Mercury General (MCY) reported strong Q2 2026 earnings, beating consensus estimates with operating income of $3.52 per share (up 31.8% YoY) and revenues of $1.67 billion. The company benefited from premium growth, improved underwriting profitability with a combined ratio of 89.9%, and higher investment income. However, catastrophe losses surged to $75 million from $13 million YoY due to California wildfires and Texas/Oklahoma storms.
